{ } Limitations
- Decompressing does not restore quality. Whatever the MP3 encoder discarded is gone, and a WAV made from an MP3 simply stores that same reduced audio without compressing it — it sounds like the MP3, at roughly ten times the size.
- The WAV is 16-bit PCM at the sample rate and channel count of the source. Neither can be changed here.
- WAV files are large and the whole file is held in memory while it is written, so a long recording can exhaust the browser before it finishes.

Will converting to WAV improve the sound?
No, and it cannot. MP3 compression is lossy and permanent; a WAV of an MP3 is an uncompressed copy of audio that has already been reduced. The only reason to make one is that something further down the line needs uncompressed input. It is a format change, not a repair.
